Quick Trip to Miami: My weekend guide to miami

There are obviously a ton of options for a Miami trip. You could sink your feet into the soft sand of South Beach, you could get your Havana nights on in the Latin Quarter, hours taking pictures of wall murals in Wynwood, or just your average shop-till-you-drop excursion. I’ve been to Miami a few times to visit a friend so I’ve had a little bit of all of that. On this last trip, in January, we had a chill weekend with a combination of going out, girl time, eating out, staying in and of course visiting the Wynwood area. Here’s a quick little guide with addresses of some of the great spots in Miami area. Drop a comment below and let me know if you’re planning on visiting Miami!

Friday Night

I flew into MIA late around 6 p.m., and took an Uber to my friends house to drop off my luggage. I did a quick wardrobe change, dumped my luggage, and changed to meet her and some of her friends at restaurant and bar in downtown by the water called Crazy About You. We had cocktails there and then took an Uber to CVI.CHE 105 for a fantastic Miami-meal of fresh ceviche. After dinner we Uber’d again to the Ball & Chain, a Miami nightclub and music venue.

Saturday

We found a Groupon (because you know I’m always looking for a deal, it’s all about balance) for a girls spa day at Turnberry Isle Resort & Spa. It was a full day experience including a massage, glass of champagne, a sauna experience, salt room session, lunch and access to the pool the remainder of the day! Not too bad. So my friend and I booked our appointments a few weeks in advance for a Saturday morning massage so that we could enjoy the day at the spa. We had a great time and lounged around in comfy robes most of the day reading magazines and sipping on champagne. We had lunch poolside (they had gluten free bread, salads etc.) and then transitioned to pool chairs where we had some tropical drinks and napped and read the rest of the afternoon. It was a pretty resort, I’d definitely go back again to the spa and also to stay at the resort. We followed up with making tacos at her house for dinner, but you could definitely finish the day off by going to any one of the great taco shops around the city.

Sunday

Sunday we had a quiet start to the morning by driving down to the Wynwood-ish area and stopping first at the Salty Donut for you guessed it- donuts! Double bonus—- they have at least one type of gluten free donut every day along with some vegan options too! They are delicious—- seriously! After our donut fix we spent the rest of the afternoon in Wynwood area where they had a street market, a woman’s rights movement going on, and of course stopping at some of the pretty street art murals. I compiled a list of some addresses for you to use as a GPS locator. Once you drive to one location you will see that along the way you pass many, so you can use that as a starting point for your driving destinations. We stopped at The Yard for lunch which is like a food truck rally sort of; permanent and semi-permanent structures are all in one area so you can have whatever your hearts desire whether it’s pho, pizza, Peruvian chicken, ceviche or just a cocktail.

We spent the rest of our afternoon and evening there before I had to head back and get ready to leave because I had a 10 p.m. flight that evening. It was a quick trip but packed full of great memories. I hope you get to enjoy some of the great things Miami offers!
